Are you looking for a new challenge? Tired of sitting in an office day in and day out sipping cold coffee, and staring at fluorescent lights. Real estate could just be the answer you are looking for. Before you go quitting that job, understand there is still a long road before you can begin showing clients homes and listing that first house.
Step 1: Register for a 90-hour pre-licensing Broker course. (You must be at least 18 years of age and hold a high school diploma or equivalent to apply)
Step 2: Once you have completed and pass your course you will need to take the Federal and State license exams and pass with a 75% or better.
Step 3: Once you have passed your exams you will need to pay for your Indiana Professional Licensing Agency (IPLA) fee to process your paperwork and activate your license. Note: You have one year to complete this step or the commission will place your licenses in an inactive status until you decide what brokerage you want to put your license under.
Step 4: Which brings us to choosing the right company. During the interviews you should be asking:
- What training do you offer?
- Do you offer any kind of mentoring programs?
- Is there a lead generating program offered by the company?
- What sort of commission splits or fees are there?
- What is expected of you?
Step 5: Once you have chosen a company to work with you will need to join your local board of Realtor.
